My Homemade SUPER ENERGY-BOOSTING Greens Power!

In a bid to offer NATURAL ENERGYBOOSTING solutions to my sleep deprive, low energy (non-breastfeeding) Post Natal clients I created my own GREEN POWDER COMBO that can easily be added to a quality protein shake to create a highly nutritious and energy-giving snack or meal at any time!

I mix the powders together in equal parts and add 2 teaspoons to a protein shake.

Powders are easily portable in a shaker bottle for a no-excuses shot of MEGA NUTRITION ANYWHERE!  Thanks to David Wolfe for an awesome text…………

Ingredient 1 – Organic Maca Powder – I recently bought a bag of this back from it’s home in South America – I was told it was their version of Viagra!!! Nothing to report yet ;-)):

  • A member of the cruciferous family, the root resembles a radish and the dried powder a pale cream colour.
  • Maca has been used medicinally for centuries in South America.
  • Defined as a ‘adaptogen’ – having a normalizing influence on the physiology and increase resistance against physical, biological and chemical stressors.
  • High in protein – contain 20 amino acids – 7 essential amino acids and high in fibre
  • A great source of hormone precursors
  • Rich in calcium, magnesium, phosphorous, potassium, sulphur, sodium, iron, zinc, iodine, copper, selenium, manganes, tin, silicon and rich in vitamins B1, B2, C and E.
  • Said to improve anaemia, chronic fatigue, depression, low libido, menopausal symptoms and menstrual discomfort.

Ingredient 2 – Organic Spriulina Powder:

  • Contains 65-71% protein!!!
  • Is a complete protein source containing all eight essential amino acids and eighteen amino acids in total
  • Rich in vitamins A, B1, B2, B6, E, K
  • Abundant source of phytonutrients and enzymes
  • Anti-imflammatory – best source of GLA – essential fatty acid vital for optimal function of your nervous system
  • Antioxidant and immune system builder

Ingredient 3 – Organic Wheatgrass Powder:

  • A natural blood purifier – chlorophyll helps manager bacterial growth.
  • Chlorophyll helps activate enzymes and is naturally an anti-inflammatory.
  • Hugely high in vitamin and minerals – one ounce equivalent to more than 2 pounds of vegetables.

Ingredient 4 – Organic Acai Powder:  In Rio they sold this on virtually every street corner Slush Puppy style ! Wow!

  • The berries are rich in anti-oxidants.
  • Very high in anthocyanins that reduce inflammation, protect blood vessels, the nervous system and the brain.
  • Contains polyphenols which have a role in reducing cardiovascular disease and cancer.

Ingredient 5 – Ground Flaxseeds:

  • Lignans – flaxseed oil and ground, sesame seeds.  Friendly bacteria in our intestines convert plant lignans into a substance that has weak oestrogen-like activity.  When there are low oestrogen levels in your body, these weak lignan oestrogens make up for some of the deficiency.  When the body is oestrogen dominant, however, these lignin oestrogen bind to the body’s oestrogen receptors, thereby reducing human oestrogen activity at a cellular level.  Making a habit of adding ground flax to salad, smoothies and yoghurts is a great way to take in lignans on a daily basis.
